“Each pot has its own personality. It should never be judged by the artist’s signature. The identity of the ceramist owes to be revealed through the work itself. During the process of combining various elements for an object to grow into a work of art, the ceramist is just the middle man. He finds himself amongst the clay, the glaze and the furnace, his role being equal to the rest of the elements”. With this thought, Valentinos signs his work like so: “...of clay and glaze, of fire, affection and love”. The exhibition presents the life and work of Valentinos Charalambous, one of the most distinguished Cypriot ceramists of international acclaim. A teacher and a visual artist adhering to a special art code, he was born in 1929 in Varosi to a family of traditional throwers. He studied in London before working for 30 years in Baghdad. He now lives and creates in Limassol. Representative works are presented that reflect all the axes around which the artist’s work has evolved in the span of a sixty-year career, from his adolescence to the present day.

The Collection Gallery will be showcasing the artwork of Andreas Tomblin and Tatiana Soteropoulos in an exhibition entitled “The New Colossus: Defying the (im)possibilities of Liberty.” The Opening event will take place on 1st of June 2016, at 7:30 pm.The art exhibition will remain open to the public from the 1st of June, 2016, until the 5th of September, 2016.
The artists have drawn inspiration for their work from the 1883 poem “The New Colossus,” by Emma Lazarus, which is engraved on a bronze plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty monument in New York City. Originally conceived as a symbol of the friendship between France and the United States, and a sign of their mutual desire for freedom, the Statue has evolved to become a universal symbol of independence throughout the world, embodying hope and opportunity as it welcomes millions of immigrants who are seeking a better life.
Mr. Tomblin and Ms. Soteropoulos pay homage to the concept of liberty and look for answers to what the meaning of freedom is. The dynamic work they’ve created reflects upon universal desires and complex emotions which will be familiar to anyone who has ever embarked upon a journey to seek a fresh start or an improved existence. The end result of their efforts is a bold collection of thought-provoking images that explode with life and energy.
10% of the artwork sales will be donated to Europa Donna.

The 18th Pafos Aphrodite Festival presents W.A. Mozart’s popularand romantic opera Don Giovanni
On September 2, 3 and 4 2016 at the Pafos Medieval Castle
One of the greatest works of the operatic repertoire and one of the leading lyric masterpieces of all times, the outstanding Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart is to be presented at the 18th edition of Pafos Aphrodite Festival on September 2, 3 and 4 at the square of the Medieval Castle in Pafos in co-production with Parma Opera Organization C.E.F.A.C. with the participation of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
Mozart’s Don Giovanni is an opera in two acts and the libretto was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It premiered at the Estates Theatre in Prague on 29 October 1787. Da Ponte’s libretto was considered, like many of its time, as drama giocoso, a term that denotes a combination of serious and comic action.
In Don Giovanni, Mozart’s music renders all aspects of a man who goes against god and takes his fate in his own hands. In this imposing work, which musically elevates the curtain of Romanticism with the most impressive way, nothing is what it seems, since the ambiguity permeates the poetic text but also the music. The intense dramatic music which accompanies the appearance of the otherworldly element and the extensive arias of the nobles come into direct dialogue with the lighthearted, everyday reverberation of the comic characters.
Don Giovanni: The Plot
The plot takes place in Seville, Spain, in the 17th century and narrates the erotic adventures of the libertine Spanish nobleman Don Giovanni who insults and scandalizes everyone until he encounters something he cannot kill, beat up, dodge, or outwit. In one of his adventures he attempts to rape Donna Anna. While trying to escape, he kills her father, who then returns from the dead to take his vengeance. Since Don Giovanni does not repent for his actions he is lead to hell.

One of the greatest works of the operatic repertoire and one of the leading lyric masterpieces of all times, the outstanding Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart is to be presented at the 18th edition of Pafos Aphrodite Festival on September...

Opening Hours:
Monday - Saturday: 10:00 - 13:00 and 16:00 - 20:00

A festival of trail running in the Troodos mountain range of Cyprus on 17 September 2016, with 80km, 50km, 25km and 10km options. Entries open. The Buff® Troodos Mountain Ultra was born out of a desire to introduce runners from around the world to Cyprus, the undiscovered trail running paradise in the Mediterranean. The island has an excellent climate with an average of 326 days of sunshine a year, and spectacular natural areas to explore from mountains and valleys dotted with small traditional villages to fertile plains and rocky coastal paths.
Cyprus Trail Runners is an enthusiastic, non-profit group which organises trail runs and trail races across the island. The group has had a wealth of experience in race organisation and in 2014 introduced the five-race La Sportiva Cyprus Mountain Madness trail race series to Cyprus in collaboration with Get Out Outdoor Store.
The group had long dreamed of holding a trail ultra-marathon in the magnificent Troodos mountain range but lacked the resources to turn the vision into reality. By lucky chance, they met the equally enthusiastic team from One Step Further and Buff® Cyprus, who readily gave their support and offered to contribute their vast experience and expertise in organising outdoor events in Cyprus to ensure the race went ahead.
Thanks to this joining of dynamic forces, the first Troodos trail ultra was held in September 2015 along a 50km course. This served as a test run to see how runners would fare on the tough route and to measure support for the launch of an 80km ultra marathon. Happily the route was given the stamp of approval by runners and will be used as part of the course this year. Runners were also very positive about an 80km race and urged the organisers to go ahead with the launch.
Thus was the Buff® Troodos Mountain Ultra born.
